MISA signs exclusive agreement with RMI

MISA and the RMI have negotiated a new Sick, Accident, and Maternity Pay Fund for the benefit of MISA members. This is good news for MISA members, as the agreement offers substantially improved benefits.

From 1 February 2016, all MISA members qualify for the following benefits:

  • Sick pay for 10 days per annum at 100% of ordinary daily remuneration and thereafter an additional 5 days at 50% of ordinary daily remuneration;
  • Accident pay for 40 days per annum at 75% of ordinary daily remuneration;
  • Maternity benefits for female members at 30% of daily remuneration for 17 weeks.

Membership of the Fund is compulsory for employees who are MISA members employed by RMI members (and voluntary for all other employees), but the good news is that contributions are borne by employers and there is therefore no additional cost to MISA members.

Should a claim arise, your employer will pay you directly and will then claim from the Fund.

As a MISA member, if you are absent from work for one day only you do not need to submit a medical certificate, except when you are off on a Friday or a Monday or any day preceding or following a normal day off.

Please join the Fund before 30 June 2016, as the 13-week waiting period for new members of the Fund will be waived for MISA members who join before the end of June 2016.
